A Winter's Day - Acrylic on board -50cm x 75cm
Following his theme of the horrors of modern living and the dangers of global warming Victor here portrays one of his deepest fears - that of the nuclear winter.
Set in a post holocaust Ryhill this view of Wintersett shows just what the end of the world could be like if we let the politicians have all there own way.
The two bare trees, symbolic of the confronting powers in the nuclear showdown, now denuded of everything except one has a flimsy fence more than the other. Viewed from the north the USA seen as the right tree at 'the other side of the pond' is left with nothing whereas China the tree on the left has still got what is left of its great wall - now a mere fence. How poignant, how purple. What is to become of man who eats the purple berries? Is there no hope left? These and other questions will have to remain unanswered.
